2 Lake Co. Candidates Booted From Ballot
The Lake County Electoral Board voted to remove the candidates from the ballot during a hearing this past week.

Reported problems with the petitions filed by three area candidates for next spring's local elections were recently challenged and two of the candidates have been booted from the ballot following a hearing by the three-member Lake County electoral board. Among the candidates was Renea Amen who was vying for a spot on the Woodland School District 50 board, the Daily Herald reports.
Amen, a former board member, lost her seat in 2017. Lake County Elections Director Todd Govain said she did not correctly identify the office she was running for on all of her petition pages and will no longer be able to run for the upcoming April election, according to the Daily Herald.
Woodland School District 50 serves all of unincorporated Gages Lake and Wildwood and parts of Gurnee, Grayslake, Park City, Third Lake, Old Mill Creek, Wadsworth, Lindenhurst, and Waukegan.

A candidate for the Ela Area Public Library, Susan J. Nielsen, also will not be able to run for election this spring after the Lake County Electoral Board decided she did not have enough legitimate signatures on her petition, according to the Daily Herald.
Lastly, a third candidate whose petition papers were challenged was given the OK to continue with her candidacy. Carissa Cabon, who is running for a seat on the Millburn School District 24 board, provided signed affadvaits from 21 people whose signatures had been challenged before the electoral board's hearing.
