23-Year-Old Unseats D127 School Board President
Jonathan Reinoso unseated former board president Edwin Brown during the April 2 elections.

GRAYSLAKE, IL -- A 23-year-old Spanish teacher will be the youngest member on the Grayslake Community High School District 127 school board following local elections last week. Jonathan Reinoso unseated former board president Edwin Brown and will join two other new faces on the local school board. Incumbent Kathleen Conlon Wasik was the top vote-getter, bringing in 1,569 votes or 23.38% of the vote total, and securing one of four spots on the school board.
Erin Westphal followed with 1,426 votes or 21.26% of the vote total. Avon Township Democrats President Hal Sloan had 1,296 vote or 19.31 percent of the total votes. Reinoso received 1,276 votes or 19.02% of the vote total compared to former board president Edwin Brown, who brought in 1,143 votes or 17.03% of the vote total.
On his Facebook page, Reinoso thanked the community for voting for him.

“With all the votes from today having been counted, it is looking like I’ll have the incredible opportunity to serve the Grayslake D127 community on the school board,” Reinoso wrote on April 2. “Thank you so much to everyone who has supported me from day one! A special thank you to all my mentors, former teachers, friends, family and neighbors who have been beyond supportive! I couldn’t have done this without you all.”
The Daily Herald reports that Reinoso is the youngest elected board member to win a seat on the District 127 Board of Education.
