3 Injured After Driver Hits 7 Cars In Meijer Parking Lot: Police

ROUND LAKE BEACH, IL — Three people were injured Sunday afternoon when a driver accidentally accelerated into seven parked cars in the parking lot of the Meijer at 750 East Rollins Road in Round Lake Beach, police said.

Police and the Greater Round Lake Fire Protection District responded around 4 p.m. after the driver, a woman, mistakenly pressed the accelerator instead of the brake while moving through the lot, according to the Lake & McHenry County Scanner. A total of seven vehicles were struck, and two of the injured were taken to area hospitals for further evaluation, authorities said.

The crash left debris scattered across the parking lot, parking lot signs destroyed and at least one cart corral damaged, according to the article.
