$3M Bail For Man Accused In Fatal Stabbing
A 29-year-old Mundelein man is accused of killing a 36-year-old Round Lake Beach man in a Round Lake Beach how Monday.

LAKE COUNTY, IL β A 29-year-old man accused of fatally stabbing a man authorities believe he was in a romantic relationship with remains behind bars.
Jesus Vargas, 29, of Mundelein, faces murder/intent to kill and manufacturing/delivery of cocaine charges in connection with a Monday domestic incident in Round Lake Beach. His bail has been set at $3 million, according to online jail records.
Vargas is accused of stabbing Brian Mahdee, 37, of Round Lake Beach, after the two got into an argument at a home in the 2000 block of Apache Trail in Round Lake Beach. Police believe the two were involved in a romantic relationship.

The Round Lake Beach Police Department was called to the home around 3 p.m. Monday and found Mahdee dead in the garage. Vargas, who had several lacerations, was taken to an area hospital.
Witnesses told police they saw Vargas cut himself several times after he stabbed Mahdee, according to a news release from the Lake County Major Crime Task Force. He was treated for minor injuries and then released from the hospital.

According to the Lake County Coroner's Office, an autopsy revealed Mahdee died from multiple sharp force injuries.
