6 Feet From Santa: Grayslake Event Fills Up Quick

But Grayslake Park District officials says more spots may open up for the Santa in the Park event due to cancellations.

GRAYSLAKE, IL β€” It's probably not a huge surprise that the Grayslake Park District's Santa in the Park event planned for December filled up quick. But Grayslake Park District officials said residents should check back to their website to see if any spots open up due to cancellations in the coming weeks.

The "socially distanced" event is planned for 1 to 3 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 6. Children attending will sit on a bench placed six feet away from Santa and parents can take their picture, according to the Grayslake Park District website. Mrs. Claus will be there as well reading stories.

In addition, Santa Claus and Mrs. Claus will be keeping their distance β€” six feet or the length of about 1.5 reindeer β€” from each other and others, according to park district officials.

The event is free but those attending must reserve a spot in advance due to COVID-19 and guidelines surrounding group sizes. No walk-ins will be allowed and masks are required. You can check to see if any time slots open up for the event here.
