7 Gold Coins Left in Salvation Army Red Kettle in Lake County

It is believed the same donor left gold coins in the same red kettle in Libertyville over the past four years.

An anonymous donor dropped a package of seven gold Swiss Francs worth $1,500 in a Salvation Army kettle at the Jewel-Osco in Libertyville this past Sunday.

Salvation Army officials believe it is the fourth year in a row the same donor has left coins in the Libertyville grocery store red kettle. The donor left seven Swiss gold Francs in 2013 worth $1,960 and the same amount of coins in 2012 that were worth $2,170, according to a Salvation Army press release posted on the Deerfield Review.

In 2011, two packages of seven francs worth a total of $6,930 were left in the same Libertyville red kettle.
