The Volo Museum recently received an unexpected $50 speeding ticket from New York City after a traffic camera allegedly captured a replica of the iconic “Knight Rider” car, KITT, speeding down city streets.
Museum staff say the claim is entirely false, pointing out that their KITT vehicle has remained on display at the museum, located at 27582 Volo Village Road in Volo, for years and has not been driven on public roads, according to museum officials. The citation appears to have been triggered by a novelty “KNIGHT” license plate, which is not a valid registration but was still linked to the museum’s record in the city’s automated system.
Museum officials are now seeking clarification on how the error occurred and jokingly suggested that actor David Hasselhoff, star of Knight Rider, might “owe them $50” for the mix-up, according to a post on the Volo Museum.
