• Dogs and birds rescued, resident and firefighter injured in Round Lake Beach house fire that displaced 5 (lakemchenryscanner.com) — A Round Lake Beach house fire Wednesday night displaced five residents, injured a firefighter and a resident, and led to the rescue of three dogs and several birds. Grayslake, Fox Lake and Wauconda fire districts assisted Greater Round Lake crews in quickly knocking down the blaze, and officials are urging area residents to check their smoke detectors and call for help if they need assistance.
