MCHENRY COUNTY, IL — A dog reported missing was rescued from the water after a coordinated response by the Lakemoor Police Department and the McHenry Fire Protection District.
The Husky, named Bandit, became trapped in a deep marsh behind a home in the 2200 block of Bay Oaks Drive in Lakemoor at about 6 a.m. on Monday, according to the Lake & McHenry County Scanner.
Crews were able to locate the animal and bring it safely to shore through quick action and teamwork between responding agencies, according to a post on the Lakemoor Police Department Facebook page.
Officials said Officer Herrick, Officer Parlberg, and Pet Rescue Backwoods Drone S.A.R. assisted in the rescue effort. Responders credited the successful outcome to the rapid coordination of multiple units once the dog was located, according to the Facebook post.
Authorities said Bandit was safely returned following the incident and is expected to be okay.
