ROUND LAKE BEACH, IL — A gas-fueled fire left a Round Lake Beach resident displaced but did not injure any people or animals, including a pig that briefly escaped during the incident.

Firefighters responded at about 12:30 p.m. Saturday to the 1600 block of North Ridgeway Avenue, where they found heavy fire on the exterior of a single-family home and worked to contain the blaze while a damaged gas meter complicated suppression efforts. The resident, a dog and a pig named Charlotte all escaped unharmed, though the pig reportedly ran from the property and had to be caught by its owner, according to the Lake & McHenry County Scanner.
