LAKE COUNTY, IL — The three government agencies that own the Avon Township Youth Baseball & Softball Complex near Hainesville are beginning plans to redevelop the 10-acre property after the longtime volunteer baseball organization dissolved last year.
Officials say the site could be transformed into a community park, with some baseball fields already being converted to soccer fields while planners seek public input on its future, the Daily Herald is reporting. The property, jointly owned by Avon Township, the Round Lake Area Park District and the Grayslake Community Park District, must remain dedicated to recreational use under the terms of its purchase.
Park district leaders say the complex has "so much potential" and hope to create a new vision that better serves the community, according to the article.
