LAKE COUNTY, IL — Lake County sheriff's detectives are investigating a fatal shooting that happened early Friday morning in Ingleside.
Deputies responded around 3:10 a.m. Friday to a reported disturbance in the 25900 block of West Laneville Drive. While en route, 911 dispatchers learned someone inside the home had been shot and that the person believed to have fired the weapon was still armed, according to a news release from the Lake County Sheriff's Office.
Deputies arrived and took a person matching the suspect description into custody without incident, and a firearm was recovered from the individual, according to the sheriff's office.
Authorities evacuated several people from the home, including children, and found a man inside who had died from apparent gunshot wounds, police said.
The Lake County Coroner's Office responded to the scene, and an autopsy is being scheduled. The person taken into custody remains behind bars as detectives investigate the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
No charges have been filed at this time.
