GRAYSLAKE, IL — Grayslake residents will have another opportunity to comment on the village's approved data center campus during a special extended public comment session Thursday.

The Grayslake Village Board will hold the one-time session at 6 p.m. Thursday in the great room at the University Center of Lake County, 1200 University Center Drive. The meeting will begin with a brief background presentation, followed by public comments on the approved data center campus, according to a news release.

The village said the extended session will be the final special opportunity for public comment on the data center, and the project will not be included on upcoming village board agendas.

Beginning with the Tuesday village board meeting, Grayslake will return to its regular public comment procedures, including a 15-minute limit for comments on non-agenda items.

The village also announced new public safety measures for future village board meetings in response to unspecified "recent information" and ongoing law enforcement concerns.

Beginning Tuesday, meeting attendees will undergo pre-entry screening, and bags, backpacks and similar items will not be allowed inside village hall during board meetings. Entry to village hall will begin at 5:15 p.m. before board meetings.

The new security measures will remain in place until further notice, the village said.
