College of Lake County (CLC) Board of Trustees Chair Allena Barbato, also chair of the Presidential Search Committee, announced the official launch of the search for the next CLC president. Community members are encouraged to provide input on the college's presidential search through public forums Friday, Aug. 21.

In-person public forums will take place at CLC's three campuses from 9-10 a.m., 11 a.m. to noon and 2-3 p.m. No RSVP is needed. Each public forum will be held simultaneously via videoconference across all three campuses. They will be held in room A013 at the Grayslake Campus, room 34-511 at the Lakeshore Campus and room V328 at the Southlake Campus.

A brief electronic survey is available for those unable to attend. Responses are anonymous. Survey feedback must be submitted by 6 p.m. Monday, Aug. 24.

The first step in the process is the development of a presidential profile, which will be informed by input gathered through the public forums and an electronic survey. The college is inviting employees, students, community members and others with an interest in the future of CLC to participate in the profile-development process. Participants are asked to share their perspectives on the qualities, characteristics and qualifications desired in the next president, as well as the opportunities and challenges facing the college in the years ahead.

The college is committed to conducting an equitable, inclusive and transparent national search that will attract a strong and diverse pool of candidates from Illinois and across the country.

The Association of Community College Trustees (ACCT) has been selected to assist with the presidential search process. ACCT will support the development of the presidential profile, assist with candidate recruitment and work closely with the college and its board throughout the process. Keith Miller, Ph.D., will serve as the ACCT search consultant.

Final candidates are expected to participate in CLC campus-wide open forums January 2027. Employees, students and community members will be invited to attend those forums and provide feedback as part of the deliberation process.

Visit the CLC website for more information about the search, including its timeline.
