• 'We choose our citizens': County board bans data centers in unincorporated Lake County until mid-2027 (lakemchenryscanner.com) — Lake County has imposed a moratorium on new data centers in unincorporated areas through May 2027, but Grayslake's massive T5 data center campus is moving ahead under village control. Grayslake officials just issued the first building permit for an 800,000‑square‑foot facility in a project projected to bring billions in investment and tax revenue while continuing to face resident opposition and a pending lawsuit.
