The investigation determined the device was located at Medina's residence, authorities said.

Detectives obtained a search warrant for the home. The sheriff's SWAT team, detectives and electronic detection canine Enzo, along with an electronic detection canine from the Illinois Attorney General's Office, conducted the search Thursday.

Investigators seized electronic devices belonging to Medina that allegedly contained child sexual abuse material, including images involving children as young as 5, according to the sheriff's office. The Lake County State's Attorney's Office approved seven charges following a review of the investigation, authorities said.

Sheriff John D. Idleburg said the case demonstrates the continued efforts of law enforcement agencies to protect children from online exploitation.

Medina was scheduled to appear in court Friday. The Lake County State's Attorney's Office said it intends to file a petition seeking to keep him detained while he awaits trial.
