Babysitter Accused of Sexually Assaulting Young Girl 30 Times Over Three-Year Span

A 66-year-old Gurnee man faces charges for sexually assaulting a girl over a three-year span, starting when the girl was 3 years old, police said Friday.

Charles R. Rudow, of the 34200 block of Birch Lane in Gurnee, was responsible for babysitting the child when the alleged abuse occurred, according to a Lake County Sheriff’s Office press release. He is charged with 30 counts of predatory criminal sexual assault of a child - a class x felony.

The mother of the victim told police Rudow touched the girl, who is now 6, inappropriately on numerous occasions. An investigation revealed Rudow had sexual contact with the young girl on about 30 occasions, according to the news release.

A $500,000 bond has been set in the case. Rudow is next expected in court on Aug. 19.
