Blind Man's Bait-And-Switch Suit Moves Forward Against Grayslake Dealership

A legally blind North Chicago man alleges a Grayslake car dealership misrepresented a vehicle's price and financing terms.

GRAYSLAKE, IL — A Lake County judge has allowed a legally blind North Chicago man's lawsuit against City Chevrolet of Grayslake to move forward after rejecting the dealership's request to send the dispute to arbitration, according to Lake and McHenry County Scanner.

Jerry Bosley alleges the dealership charged him $43,588 for a 2023 Chevrolet Traverse advertised for $32,915 and arranged financing at an 11 percent interest rate despite assurances it could beat his credit union's 6.49 percent rate, according to the Lake & McHenry County Scanner. Bosley claims the dealership failed to adequately explain the purchase documents, including an arbitration agreement that would waive his right to pursue the dispute in court.

The dealership disputes those allegations, maintaining that the paperwork and financing terms were explained to Bosley before he signed and that he voluntarily completed the purchase, according to the article. The lawsuit seeks more than $50,000 in damages, and the case is scheduled to return to court Nov. 3.
