Body Matching Description Of Missing Gurnee Man Found In Pond

Police said the body matched that of Jimmy Hedrich, 82, who was last seen walking away from a local memory care facility Friday morning.

GURNEE, IL — The body of a man that matches the description of an 82-year-old Gurnee resident with dementia who was reported missing late last week was found in a local pond Monday afternoon, police said.

Police said that the body was discovered around 3:30 p.m. Monday in the area of Washington Street and Hillview Drive, police said. Officers were able to retrieve the body from the water and were awaiting confirmation of the man’s identity. Police said they received a 911 call indicating that someone had discovered he man's body in the pond.

Police officials said last week that Jimmy Hedrich went missing early Friday morning after he was last seen walking away from Gurnee Place Memory Care on Hunt Club Road. Silver Search of Illinois issued an endangered missing persons report for the man.

Police said Hedrich is not very familiar with the Gurnee area but is often spotted walking through the neighborhoods.

In a social media post on Monday, Gurnee Police thanked the community for its support and concern for Hedrich’s family.
