Boil Order Issued For Grayslake
The village's water system lost water pressure this morning and a telemetry system malfunction may be to blame, village officials said.
GRAYSLAKE, IL β The village of Grayslake has issued a water boil order, which is expected to remain in effect for the next 36 to 48 hours. Shortly after 7:15 a.m., the villageβs water system lost water pressure.
A preliminary investigation revealed that a telemetry system malfunction occurred, according to a news release from the village. Immediately upon learning of the malfunction, village crews responded by overriding the automatic operating system manually pumping water back into the system.
Water system pressure was gradually restored to normal.

Due to the system-wide loss of pressure, a water boil order was issued in accordance with Illinois Environmental Protection Agency (IEPA) regulations.
Information regarding the water boil order was distributed immediately through various communication mediums including the villageβs website, Facebook and Twitter accounts, and a community-wide notification phone call, village officials said.

During the boil order, bottle water should be used for drinking, cooking, washing fresh fruits and vegetables, hand washing, and tooth brushing. If bottled water is not available, the affected tap water should used for these purposes only after it has been boiled for five minutes.
