One Stop College Shopping: University Center Open House Features 19 Illinois Colleges & Financial Aid Application Assistance

At the University Center Open House on Tuesday, March 20 from 6 - 8 pm, you can meet program representatives, apply for financial aid, and maybe even win some cash.

If you are thinking about returning to school, don't miss the University Center Open House on Tuesday, March 20 from 6 - 8 pm at the University Center's Grayslake Facility (1200 University Center Drive).  In one visit, you can meet program representatives, apply for financial aid, and maybe even win some cash.

The University Center offers close to 80 academic programs that enable students to complete a bachelor's degree, earn a master's degree, or obtain a professional certificate.  There are 19 member colleges that offer programs through the University Center at facilities in Grayslake and Waukegan, at Great Lakes Naval Training Center in North Chicago, and via online study.  Representatives will attend the Open House to provide information and answer questions.

The Open House will also include an opportunity for students to complete and submit a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) form with the assistance of volunteers trained by the Illinois Student Assistance Commission.  Students who wish to do so should bring their 2011 tax forms, driver’s license or state ID, social security card, and asset information.  Students who are still dependent on their parents should also bring their parents’ information.  Some volunteers will be bilingual and students applying for financial aid for the first time are especially welcome.

WXLC will be broadcasting live from the Open House, so some lucky students may win some immediate financial aid from the XLC cash machine and get to meet XLC radio personality Jimmy Novak.
