- Join storytellers Megan Wells, Charlotte Blake-Alson and Jim May in a fun filled hour of spooky stories and tales at the 7th Annual Ray Bradbury Storytelling Festival at the Genesee Theatre in Waukegan. There is a 10:30am children’s matinee and a 7:30pm evening show for kids 11 and older. New this year for the evening show, attendees will be invited to take a haunted tour of the Genesee Theatre before the performance.
- Hike your way through the World’s Largest Corn Maze until midnight by the light of the moon at Richardson Adventure Farm on Friday and Saturday night. Explore the full 33 acre and 11 mile maze or just one short trail, but bring your flashlight or glow-stick to help guide you through the maze.
- Stop by the Great Lakes Naval Museum Halloween celebration this Saturday from 1pm – 3pm. Kids will be able to decorate their own sailor’s white hat and receive a special Halloween treat. All of the little sailors are encouraged to wear their favorite Halloween costume. The Great Lakes Naval Museum is open to the public all year around.
- Put on a costume and stop by the Deer Park Town Center for their Fall Festival on Saturday from 12pm – 4pm. The kids will enjoy trick-or-treating to each store displaying a pumpkin decal on their window. There will also be a dog costume contest, a stilt walker, balloon artist, monster mash and free face painting.
- This Friday and Saturday from 6pm – 8pm, the Lake County Forest Preserves District is offering one-hour guided group hikes along a candlelit path at Ryerson Woods Forest Preserve. This event will have a fun natured theme and will not be scary for the young ones.
