Yes, you can be working out too hard. Most won't let a workout "count" if they aren't gasping or sweating like crazy. But if you do this too often you are probably working out too hard.
This will lead to fatigue, greater carb store burn and usually a lower fat usage ability over all. Worst of all you are more likely to get injured and burn out mentally which both will often lead to not working out or stopping all together.
Let's set up a healthy week if you are not limited in any way:

- try to do 30-60min 5-6 days a week, any less will make it hard to improve conditioning and could leave you lacking enough conditioning to really do any hard without really risking injury
- about 70% of your time should be "easy" where you can talk and enjoy time with others
- 10-30% can be "hard" if it is inline with your goals if you want a greater ability to output
- every 3rd to 4th week should be less than most of the weeks to allow for recovery and progression from the more challenging weeks
To help you determine easy and hard, using a heart rate monitor to understand the response to the work will help. Also using a machine that has some way to label the output like a level or speed so you know what is easy and then you can go more for hard. If you are outside, a monitor of speed will be helpful too.
If you follow this, you will be surprised for sure. I bet you will be leaner, faster and most importantly feel so much better!
