The Grayslake Arts Alliance is very excited to partner with A Little Bit Of Me for an Art Show Pop-Up event on Friday, August 15th, from 11am to 7pm!
A Little Bit Of Me is a darling boutique that recently opened at their new location at 115 S US Highway 45, Grayslake, IL 60030. There is something for everyone, from little gifts created by hand by local artisans to statement furniture pieces refurbished with love and skill by the owner, Trinie Jimenez. Trinie also offers special self-care events and arts and crafts workshops. Make sure you follow her to keep updated with the wonderful events they offer, like this Art Show Pop-Up event! 
The artists and authors of the Grayslake Arts Alliance will be offering original paintings, art prints, books from our authors, handmade cards, tiny artworks and so much more for sale for one day only! Refresh your home, workspace or find those last minute unique pieces to make your dorm room feel like home! &nbsp;Have you found yourself worrying that those pesky little bugs seem to be everywhere lately? You might be right, tick populations are on the rise, and new species may be appearing in our area. You can help us understand what’s really happening by collecting ticks anytime you, your family members, or even your pets encounter them.Join Extension Specialist Dr. Teresa Steckler for an informative presentation, “Ticks in Illinois,” at the Lake County Extension Office, 100 South US Hwy 45 in Grayslake, on May 4 at 11 a.m.During this session, you’ll learn about Dr. Steckler’s ongoing research on ticks and discover how you can contribute to an important citizen science project by volunteering to gather data. Your participation helps build a clearer picture of tick activity across the region. There will be plenty of time for questions afterwards.&nbsp;Registration for this program is $5, and all participants will receive a U of I Extension tick kit and other program materials to take home after the presentation.&nbsp;

James Lumber Center for the Performing Arts

The Lake County Symphony Orchestra presents Roots &amp; Resonance on Friday, May 8 at the James Lumber Center in Grayslake, led by guest conductor <a href="https://lakecountysymphonyorchestra.com/may-2026-concert/#Eli-Chen" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">Eli Chen</a>.
This program features three works written or arranged within the past 20 years, offering a different perspective on orchestral music through a chamber ensemble setting.
Michael-Thomas Foumai’s Concerto Grosso opens the concert, written to highlight small groups of instruments in conversation across the orchestra.
Sepehr Pirasteh’s When They Broke Down the Door! has been reorchestrated for this performance. Based in Philadelphia, Pirasteh has studied and worked extensively in the United States, and his music often draws from both Persian and contemporary classical traditions.
The program concludes with Gustav Mahler’s Symphony No. 4, presented in a chamber arrangement by Klaus Simon. This version maintains the character of the original while bringing greater clarity to individual lines and textures.
The result is a program that places individual musicians at the forefront while maintaining the structure and scope of a full symphonic work.

University of Illinois Extension Master Gardeners will hold its annual plant sale on Saturday, May 16, 2026, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the University of Illinois Extension grounds, 100 South Highway 45, Grayslake, IL 60030. This year our plant sale will feature a beautiful selection of nursery grown varieties not readily available at traditional garden centers – natives, new cultivars of perennials, grasses and pollinator-friendly plants. Many varieties of home-grown tomatoes, along with other vegetables and herbs, will be available. In addition, shop our “Garden Treasures” for new and gently used items to enhance your landscape and home, including yard art, garden tools, decorative containers and gardening books. Master Gardeners will be on hand to answer your gardening questions, help with plant selection and offer gardening advice. All proceeds support projects and programming for volunteers, youth and adults in Lake County.
