Child To Undergo Surgery After Shooting In Round Lake Beach
The shooting happened Saturday in Round Lake Beach. An adult and 8-year-old child sustained injuries.
ROUND LAKE BEACH, IL — An 8-year-old child is expected to undergo surgery to remove bullet fragments after being shot over the weekend in Round Lake Beach.
A 26-year-old was also injured in the shooting, which happened at about 8:40 p.m. Saturday in the 500 block of Meadow Green Lane, but refused to be transported to an area hospital for treatment and only suffered "superficial wounds," according to a news release from the Round Lake Beach Police Department.
The child was transported to a hospital and has since been released from the hospital. The child is expected to undergo surgery later this week to have bullet fragments removed, according to police.

Police said the incident was isolated and the public was not in any danger. No additional details were being released, and police are asking anyone with information surrounding the shooting to contact them at 847-546-2127.
The Round Lake Beach Police Department is continuing to investigate the shooting.
