CLC delays in-person class start date back one week due to COVID
In-person classes have been delayed one week to Jan. 24.
The start for all in-person and blended classes at College of Lake County (CLC) will be delayed until Monday, Jan. 24, due to the surge in COVID-19 cases in Illinois and Lake County caused by the Omicron variant.
Online, non-credit and dual credit classes will begin as scheduled Tuesday, Jan. 18.
Spring break will occur as planned, March 21-27, and the spring semester will end as planned May 13.

“CLC’s pandemic operations plan has extensive protocols in place to optimize the health and safety of students and employees. The safety measures and strategies in place are continually re-evaluated and modified based on the data available. Faculty, staff and students did a great job of following protocols in the fall semester, which helps to keep in-person learning and services available for all students,” said President Dr. Lori Suddick.
Per the governor’s mandate, all on-campus higher education personnel and students are required to wear a face mask and be vaccinated or submit to weekly COVID-19 testing.

During this Omicron variant surge, CLC also will purchase a large supply of N95 masks for on-campus students and employees, expand air filtration options in certain spaces, and implement additional physical distancing requirements beyond what was required in the fall semester.
The college continues to host free COVID-19 Shield testing at the Grayslake campus from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. each Monday and Thursday in Room C106. No appointment is needed, but registration is required in the SHIELD system, which can be done on site or prior to arrival. No testing will be available Jan. 17 due to the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday.
Walk-in vaccination clinics also continue to be scheduled across all three campuses through partnerships with community health agencies. The Southlake and Lakeshore campuses will host a clinic from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 13, and a clinic will be held at the Grayslake campus from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Friday, Jan. 14.
“Despite the challenges COVID-19 continues to bring our way, we are looking forward to the start of this new semester,” Suddick added. “Every semester is a new beginning for learning opportunities and growth. The CLC community has become skilled at adapting to new shifts and challenges, more than we ever thought possible.”
