CLC Doles Out $100 Checks To Vaccinated Students
On the first day of the incentives program, more than 1,200 students showed proof they'd been vaccinated against COVID-19.
GRAYSLAKE, IL — Cash is being doled out to College of Lake County students who show proof they have been vaccinated against COVID-19.
The incentive program kicked off Wednesday and more than 1,200 students submitted proof showing of their vaccination status and received a $100 check, said Lindsey Nemcek, public relations manager for College of Lake County. Classes start on Aug. 23.
Students enrolled in fall classes are eligible to submit proof of vaccination and receive a $100 check. CLC is using federal Higher Education Emergency Relief Funds as a way to promote vaccination, according to a CLC news release.

In addition, the Lake County Department of Health and College of Lake County will offer a free vaccination clinic at its Grayslake campus from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on August 26, September 23 and October 21. Students do not need to attend the vaccination clinic to be eligible for the incentive.
Anyone ages 12 and older can get a free COVID-19 vaccine in Lake County. Many local pharmacies now offer walk-in services with no appointments necessary.

The White House COVID-19 College Vaccine Challenge is a nationwide effort to get as many Americans as possible vaccinated and end the pandemic. Participating colleges commit to taking three key actions to help get their campus communities vaccinated: engaging every student, faculty, and staff member; organizing their college communities; and delivering vaccine access for all.
As of Wednesday, more than 51 percent of Illinois residents have received the COVID-19 vaccine. In Lake County, over 53 percent of the population has been fully vaccinated.
