Relive the nostalgia of your grade-school days with the College of Lake County (CLC) theatre department’s production of “Schoolhouse Rock Live” during Schoolhouse Rock’s 50th anniversary.
Performances are Friday and Saturday, July 14 and 15 at 7:30 p.m.; Sunday, July 16 at 2 p.m.; Thursday, Friday and Saturday, July 20, 21 and 22 at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, July 23 at 2 p.m.
“We are so excited to be celebrating 50 years of Schoolhouse Rock,” said Theatre Department Chair Craig Rich. “These wonderful songs bring back so many happy memories; the audience won’t be able to resist singing along. This is such a fun musical for the summer. We have an amazing creative team made up of students, faculty, staff and guest artists. The cast is all current students and recent graduates.”

A pop culture phenomenon, Schoolhouse Rock is an Emmy Award-winning Saturday morning cartoon series that taught history, grammar, math and more through clever, catchy songs now comes to the musical stage. Schoolhouse Rock Live! follows Tom, a schoolteacher who is nervous about his first day of teaching. He tries to relax by watching TV, when various characters emerge from the set and show him how to win his students over with imagination and music, through such songs as "Just a Bill," "Lolly, Lolly, Lolly" and "Conjunction Junction."
Tickets are $15 for the general public and $10 for CLC students, teenagers and seniors. Tickets are buy one ticket, get one free opening night, July 14, and Thursday, July 20.
