Prior to the collision, police were called to a home in the 100 block of Beachview Drive at about 4:15 p.m. for a report of a man who was trying to get into the residence of a person he'd previously had a relationship with, police said.

The man, who was later identified as Chargois, left the home when police were called, authorities said. He fled the area at a high rate of speed, heading west on Rollins Road, according to the news release.
