Coroner IDs Man Killed When Snowmobile Fell Through Ice

Preliminary results from an autopsy on the 40-year-old Antioch man show he died from drowning.

LAKE COUNTY, IL — A 40-year-old Antioch man whose snowmobile went through the ice in Antioch on Sunday died from drowning, Lake County Coroner Howard Cooper said this past week. The man has been identified as Damian Rivas.

The incident occurred on Loon Lake in Antioch and Rivas was taken to Advocate Condell Medical Center where he was pronounced dead early Monday.

Toxicology results are pending and the final cause of death remains under investigation, Cooper said.
