County Seeks Feedback On How To Spend COVID Relief Funds
Lake County residents can sound off on how American Rescue Plan Act funds should be used during an Aug. 10 meeting in Round Lake Beach.

LAKE COUNTY, IL β Lake County residents can share their input on how they think COVID-19 relief funds should be used during an informational meeting in Round Lake Beach next week.
Lake County is hosting its third and final informational session from 5 to 7 p.m. on Aug. 10 at the Round Lake Beach Civic Center, 2007 Civic Center Way in Round Lake Beach. Residents can learn more about the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) and can share their input on how funding could best be used on projects meant to benefit Lake County communities as they recover and respond to the COVID-19 pandemic, according to the news release.

After receiving more than $135 million in federal funding from ARPA, Lake County "has a historic opportunity" to invest in projects and programs meant to address struggles brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic, with the hopes of making our county "more resilient to future challenges," according to county officials.
To date, Lake County has already committed $71 million in ARPA funding. The county continues to appropriate ARPA funds to meet immediate response needs, such as food distribution and housing programs needed in response to COVID-19.

All ARPA money must be allocated by the end of 2024 and spent by the end of 2026.
