Man Dressed as Woman Robs Businesses in Lake County

Police have issued a warrant for Christopher Hornezes who allegedly robbed businesses in Gurnee, Lincolnshire and Northbrook.

A man dressed as a woman has brandished a knife and robbed four different businesses in recent days, getting away with cash, police said.

The latest robbery happened at about 5:40 a.m. on Saturday when the suspect, who police have identified as 27-year-old Christopher Hornezes, robbed the Shell/Circle K station on Milwaukee Avenue and Aptakisic Road in Lincolnshire while wearing a long wig, yoga pants, a skirt, striped top and white athletic shoes. He was armed with a knife when he jumped over the counter while the cash drawer was open, according to a Gurnee Police Department press release.

At about 8:50 p.m. on Friday, Hornezes wore the same outfit when he robbed the Subway near Lake Cook and Skokie Boulevard in Northbrook, police said.

Hornezes is also accused of robbing a business in Gurnee and stealing a car in Waukegan.

The Gurnee armed robbery took place in the 6900 block of Grand Avenue at about 9:30 a.m. on Friday. During the Gurnee robbery, Hornezes allegedly wore blue skinny jeans and sported a brown wig and a pony tail. The car-jacking took place on Thursday.

Arrest warrants have been issued for Hornezes' arrest. Police believe he is still driving the car he stole - a 2004 Hyundai Elentra -- in Waukegan, according to the news release. The license plate is A552071. Hornezes is described as black male who is 5-feet 6-inches tall and weighing 200 pounds.
