D46 Releases Info On Teacher Salary Increases

GRAYSLAKE, IL — The Grayslake District 46 school board approved wage increases for teachers and staffers at a meeting Wednesday. The boost in pay comes after 11 months of negotiating with the Grayslake Federation of Teachers and the Grayslake PSRP, the union for the district's support staff, according to a post on the District 46 Facebook page.

Ultimately, teachers and staffers decided to go on strike earlier this month, which ended after one day. The unions approved the proposed wage increases last week.

The increases are for the last two years of the current four-year contract, according to school officials, For the 2019-2020 school year, all employees who are members of these bargaining units will receive increases of 4 percent over the prior year’s wage or salary rate. For the 2020-2021 school year, the same employees will receive increases of 3.6 percent over the prior year’s wage or salary rate.

Along with salary and wage increases, bargaining unit employees will receive raises related to pay for supplemental duties, summer school, and internal substituting as applicable, and tuition reimbursements for college courses have been increased, according to the District 46 Facebook post.

The parties have also agreed to establish an advisory insurance committee to collect information about potential health insurance savings in the future that will benefit both the employer and employees.
