The letter should include the reason for wanting to serve on the Board, past history and civic involvement. Letters will be reviewed upon receipt through January 22, 2016. In order to serve on a Board of Education, a person must be a citizen of the United States, at least 18 years of age, a resident of the State of Illinois and the Grayslake Community High School District for at least one year and a registered voter.
The vacancy comes after board member Suzanne Swanson resigned earlier this month after seven years of service, according to the Chicago Tribune. Superintendent Catherine Finger said Swanson cited personal reasons as her reason for leaving the board seat.
