GAGES LAKE, IL β€” A bookworm vending machine will make its debut at a local elementary school this week. Woodland Elementary West, 17371 W. Gages Lake Road, will host a ribbon cutting ceremony for the new machine where two lucky students will get to use it for the first time, according to a news release from District 50.

The ceremony will start at 1:30 p.m. Friday, Aug. 23.

Woodland School District 50 is one of the first school districts in the state to get a bookworm vending machine, which is meant to reward students with books and instill the love of reading in all, according to the press release.

Associate Superintendent of Education Lori Cosey and Elementary West Principal Ryan Wolberg will speak at the ceremony before two students, who've earned the opportunity, become the first book recipients.
