Driver Fleeing Home Invasion Crashes Car, Dies: Police
A 55-year-old bystander was also injured when the man collided into two parked cars in Round Lake Beach Wednesday afternoon.
ROUND LAKE BEACH, IL — A man was killed after he fled the scene of a home invasion and crashed his car into two parked cars up for sale on Rollins Road in Round Lake Beach Wednesday afternoon, causing one of the cars to go careening into a bystander, police said.
The bystander, a 55-year-0ld man, was injured after one of the cars spun into him. He was taken to an area hospital, according to a news release from the Round Lake Beach Police Department.
Prior to the collision, police were called to a home in the 100 block of Beachview Drive at about 4:15 p.m. for a report of a man who was trying to get into the residence of a person he'd previously had a relationship with, police said.

The man left the home when police were called, authorities said. He fled the area at a high rate of speed in a 2010 Nissan, heading west on Rollins Road, according to the news release.
The car ended up driving off Rollins Road near Lotus Drive and slammed into the parked cars up for sale in the 800 block of West Rollins Road, police said.

The driver was not responsive when emergency personnel arrived at the scene and was trapped in the vehicle. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The 55-year-old man injured in the incident was taken to a hospital and his condition is not currently available, police said.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
