Off-Duty Cop Dies 'Suddenly And Tragically': Mundelein Officials

MUNDELEIN, IL — An off-duty member of the Mundelein Police Department died "suddenly and tragically," the village announced Sunday.

Officials did not release information on the officer or the circumstances surrounding their death.

"When appropriate, the department will comment on the circumstances surrounding this unfortunate situation," Village Administrator Eric Guenther said on social media. "Right now, our focus is on supporting the family of this individual and respecting the family's privacy while they grieve the loss of their loved one."
