Elderly Woman Critically Injured In Crash
The collision happened Thursday afternoon on Route 12 in Volo.
LAKE COUNTY, IL β An elderly woman is in critical condition following a two-vehicle crash in Volo Thursday afternoon.
The collision happened at about 1:30 p.m. in the 32200 block of Route 12 when a 2011 Honda SUV was pulling out of a driveway, attempting to turn onto southbound Route 12, and was hit by a 2004 Ford pickup headed north on Route 12, according to a news release from the Lake County Sheriff's Office.
The driver of the Honda, an 84-year-old Chicago woman, was taken to Northwestern Medicine Hospital in McHenry with serious injuries. A front seat passenger in the vehicle, a 79-year-old Chicago woman, was taken to the McHenry hospital and then flown by helicopter to Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge where she is listed in critical condition, authorities said Friday morning.

The driver of the Ford, a 19-year-old Volo man, was not injured.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation by the Lake County Sheriffβs Office Technical Crash Investigations Unit.
