Swimming the Channel

The Grayslake Area Public Library is proud to feature marathon swimmer Aurora Gore.  Not only has Aurora completed a swim across the English Channel, she is training to be the first American woman to cross the Irish Channel.  This is an amazing opportunity to meet and talk with an elite athlete.  It is a program for all ages and the Library hopes to have a good crowd on hand. 

We know you can come prepared with plenty of questions, such as how long did it take to swim the English Channel?  How does a swimmer receive nourishment while battling extreme conditions and staying afloat in the Channel?  How does a swimmer train for this type of event?
