The Antioch Fire Department responded around 7:20 p.m. Monday to the 300 block of Abbey Court in Antioch for a service call.

The black shift crew from Antioch Fire Station #2 responded to the β€œunique call,” the fire department said.

The missing service bird was found in a tree after escaping from the home to β€œget some fresh air,” fire officials said.

The crew braved the below-freezing weather for over an hour before Sunny was successfully rescued.

Fire officials said the very tired and cold bird was returned to his owners safely.

β€œHe is now getting warm and enjoying being reunited with his family,” the fire department said.
