Flood Warning Issued Along Des Plaines River

LAKE COUNTY, IL - A flood warning has been issued by the National Weather Service for areas along the Des Plaines River in the far north suburbs.

An alert was issued at 10:41 a.m. on Wednesday near Russell affecting Lake County. Russell is among the northernmost roads in Lake County, bordering Wisconsin several miles west of Winthrop Harbor.

“An inch and a half of rain fell through Tuesday morning,” the NWS alert read. “Also water flowing downstream from the Des Plaines River in Wisconsin the Des Plaines River near Russell will continue to rise.”

The stage at the river was 6.4 feet as of 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday.
