Ghost Guns, Cocaine Found During Search Of Round Lake Park Home: Cops

LAKE COUNTY, IL — A Round Lake Park man who authorities say is a documented street gang member faces several felony charges following his arrest this past week.

The Lake County Sheriff’s Office Special Investigations Group's long-term probe into Joshua Jackson, 26, of the 500 block of Grandview Drive in Round Lake Park, concluded Wednesday when authorities served a warrant and searched Jackson's home, according to a news release from the sheriff's office.

Jackson is accused of distributing narcotics. According to police, detectives recovered the following items Wednesday during a search of Jackson's home:

• Three firearms, two of which were ghost guns. Ghost guns are guns with no serial numbers.
• Two suppressors, which are designed to ‘silence’ or reduce the sound of gunfire
• A firearm drum magazine, capable of holding approximately 50 rounds of ammunition
• An extended firearm magazine
• Numerous additional firearm magazines
• Hundreds of rounds of ammunition
• Parts and tools to use to assemble ‘ghost guns’
• Over 70 grams of packaged cocaine for distribution

Jackson has since been charged with unlawful possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute, which is a Class X felony; unlawful possession of a controlled substance, which is a Class 1 felony; three counts of aggravated unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon, which are class 3 felonies; unlawful possession of ammunition, a Class 2 felony; and unlawful possession of a suppressor, a Class 3 felony.

“I am grateful our Special Investigations Group investigated and arrested this convicted felon before he had an opportunity to use or sell these firearms," Lake County Sheriff John Idleburg said in a statement. "We will continue our efforts to apprehend violent offenders and those who traffic drugs in Lake County.”
