Girl, 12, Hit by Pickup Truck in Gages Lake
The 12-year-old girl, who was initially taken to the hospital with critical injuries Friday afternoon, is expected to recover.

GAGES LAKE, IL - A 12-year-old girl is expected to recover after being hit by a pick-up truck Friday afternoon while crossing a roadway in Gages Lake, police said Tuesday.
The girl, who was initially taken to the hospital in critical condition, is expected to be released from the hospital in the “near future,” Christopher Covelli, a spokesman for the Lake County Sheriff’s Office, said in an e-mail on Tuesday.
The crash happened at about 2:34 p.m. on Friday when the girl was hit by a pick-up truck while crossing Gages Lake Road at Almond Road in Gages Lake. The girl was walking south on Gages Lake Road and the driver of a Chevrolet pickup was traveling east on Gages Lake Road when the crash occurred, according to a sheriff’s office news release.

Witnesses told police the light was green for traffic on Gages Lake Road at the time of the accident. The driver was unable to avoid striking the girl who was hit by the front-end of the pick-up truck.
The girl was initially taken to Condell Hospital in Libertyville and later flown to Christ Hospital in Oak Lawn with critical injuries.

No charges have been filed at this point but an investigation is ongoing, Covelli said Tuesday.
