"GoMets" Now a Roller Coaster at Six Flags; Park Renamed "Six Flags Great Mets"
Chicagoland theme park makes good on bet; temporarily changes name after the Cubs' embarrassing loss.

The Chicago Cubsβ failure to do so much as even take a lead in their National League Championship loss to the New York Mets has cost the area theme park its pride.
Six Flags Great America in Gurnee will be known as βSix Flags Great Metsβ for the remainder of Fright Fest (until November 1), making good on a bet with the New York-area Six Flags park in New Jersey, NBC-5-Chicago reported.
Had the Cubs won, that park name would have been changed to βSix Flags Great Cubs.β

The popular Goliath roller coaster is also βGoMetsβ during this time.
βWe were so confident that this was the year for the Chicago Cubs that we amped up our wager with Six Flags Great Adventure,β park president, Hank Salemi, said in a statement. βUnfortunately, we will have to bear these two shameful renames of our park and roller coaster for the remaining weekends of Fright Fest. Thereβs always 2016.β

The luck of making wagers with other theme parks dried up after one for the Cubs and Great America. Before the team lost to the Mets, a St. Louis-area Six Flags had to change its signature rideβs name to βCubs Thunderβ when the Cubs eliminated the St. Louis Cardinals in four games.
