Grammy Award-winning Musician Jeff Coffin Comes to CLC

Jeff Coffin's MasterClass and Concert at CLC this Weekend

Need something musical to do this weekend? As usual, the College of Lake County is the place to find amazing musical options—save the dates for these two.

First off, Grammy Award-winning musician Jeff Coffin will be flying into town to play in the College of Lake County's 47th Annual Art of Jazz concert on Sunday, March 10th at 4 pm with the Monday Night CLC Jazz Band, under the direction of Dr. Michael Flack. Director Joe Ott's Tuesday Night CLC Jazz Band kicks off the concert.

CLC's Monday Night Jazz band players enjoyed the challenge of learning Jeff Coffin's stellar jazz charts, playing through songs off his 2015 released album, The Inside of the Outside. According to Bill Chapin, pianist in the Monday Night CLC Jazz Band and owner of Grayslake's Chapin Jazz Studio, "Coffin's compositions range from delicate and subtle—as heard in his flute feature on As Light Through Leaves—to his driving samba, 12th and Edgehill. Other tunes like Bubble Up shift time signatures with seemingly erratic melodies while maintaining a strong jazz-funk groove."

Secondly, on Saturday, March 9th CLC's guest artist Jeff Coffin, saxophonist for the legendary Dave Matthews Band, will also present a free morning masterclass from 11–12 at the main campus. The technical expertise of JLC Technical Coordinator Jeremy Eiden, technician Pete Hansen and crew pave the way for an exciting event you won't want to miss. Find tickets here.
