Grayslake Central High School, an Illinois Civics Mission Coalition/Robert R. McCormick Foundation recognized Democracy School, is honored to be hosting a Veterans Day Celebration on November 11th at Grayslake Central High School to recognize and honor all those who have served their country as members of the military. Coordinated by the Public Service Practicum class and the GCHS Key Club this event will allow our students, staff, and community members the opportunity to honor our veterans throughout the day.

Highlights of the day include:

  • A school wide assembly honoring all veterans, featuring a keynote address by Commander Dr. Tony Peterson (Assembly will take place from 7:40am-8:20am in the GCHS Fieldhouse).
  • An appreciation breakfast for all veterans following the school wide assembly featuring student and community speakers. (Breakfast will take place from 8:20am-10:00am in the GCHS Big Gym)
  • Veterans from all branches will be speaking to students throughout the day in the GCHS Theater (speakers will run for 40 minutes beginning at 8:20am in the theater).

“We are very excited to have this opportunity for the students of Grayslake Central High School to honor and thank our veterans! We hope the day is enlightening for the students as they gain a deeper appreciation for the dedication and sacrifices our veterans and their families make to keep our country safe.” says Grayslake Central High School Social Studies Department Chair Jason Janczak
