Grayslake Colts Cheer Team Win State Title
Varsity Green 7th Grade Cheer Team Wins State Title!
The Grayslake Colts 7th Grade Varsity Green Cheerleaders took first place at the Illinois Recreational Cheerleading Association’s State Cheerleading Championships on December 7 at the Sears Center in Hoffman Estates.
The athletes competed in the three day competition which started on Friday, December 5 where only the top three teams advanced to the final round on Sunday, December 7. Day one found the team showing true athleticism as one of the cheerleaders was injured in the warm-up gym minutes before performing. Varsity Green kept focus on their skills and were able to learn new positions and reblock their stunts to come out on top and secure the first place finish in the preliminary round topping seven other teams. On Sunday, December 7, Varsity Green took home the first place state title as they beat out some fantastic competition from the cheerleading teams of McHenry and Schaumburg.
On every level the team matched the passion and intensity that is the spirit of the sport of cheerleading! These girls are an amazing group of cheerleaders and their ‘can do’ attitude is mirrored by the support of their families.
