Grayslake Explores Building a Water Tower to Attract New Businesses

The water tower could serve businesses on the southern portion of Grayslake.

Officials in Grayslake say a new $11 million water tower on the southern part of town could help attract businesses to, what is believed to be, one of the the largest chunks of undeveloped land in Lake County, the Daily Herald reports.

The tower could provide water to potential office, retail and industrial development on 641 acres of land near Peterson and Alleghany roads, which is owned by Skokie-based Alter Group, and also could serve an adjacent 1,500 acres known as Central Range, according to the article.

Village Manager Mike Ellis said development at the sites could occur before a water tower is built. There are currently no specific plans or proposals under consideration for either sites, the newspaper reports.
