The massive 62-foot Norway Spruce was selected as Chicago's official 2017 Christmas tree to be lit on Nov. 17.

GRAYSLAKE, IL — A huge Norway Spruce tree from Grayslake has been chosen as Chicago's official Christmas tree this year, displayed in Millennium Park for its annual holiday display starting last Friday.

The Dorfler family's 62-foot spruce won the top spot out of 71 submissions for the annual contest, and they'll get a chance to help light the tree at the 104th Annual Tree Lighting Ceremony at 6 p.m. on Nov. 17, near The Bean. Admission to the events and lighting is free.
