GRAYSLAKE, IL — The village of Grayslake recently became one of four municipalities in Illinois to receive a Bird City Illinois designation.

The village officially received the designation at its July 17 village board meeting, according to a news release from the village of Grayslake. Village officials said that in order to achieve this designation, Grayslake had to demonstrate progress in the areas of:

  • Limiting or removing threats to birds

Village officials say the achievement was accomplished through a community effort and made possible by the contributions from the College of Lake County, Community Consolidated School District 46, Grayslake CHSD 127, the Grayslake Park District and the Lake County Forest Preserves, according to a news release.
